Bloom

Following the Ben Franklin mantra “a place for everything, and everything in its place”, this playful board helps to unclutter and bring calm to a dynamic, modern lifestyle.

The self-initiated project pairs sustainably-sourced wood with solid bronze pegs in a panel that is at once both an organisational tool and a luxurious visual piece. Smooth textures and complimentary hues of bronze and walnut fuse to produce a compellingly tactile tabula rasa that encourages clarity of thought.

Each peg is designed to have presence, such that hanging an object from the board is a meaningful act. 3D printed plaster studies were used to determine the ideal geometries and ergonomics, paving the way for prototypes in plastic and metals – ultimately leading to a precision bronze peg that elevates the warm pantones of the finished walnut.

Mapped in an equally spaced Fibonacci sequence mirroring the patterns of a sunflower’s disc florets, precision inset holes cast a dark internal shadow that defines Bloom’s graphic identity. There is no set formula for placing pegs into the board. Discretion is left wholly up to the user.

The panel is machined front and back, hand-sanded, and carefully sealed with multiple coats of specialist oil. The pegs are turned on a metal lathe and then hand-finished by expert polishers. Every board is made to order, ready to hang bare necessities and support clear decision-making.
